It’s easy to feel unloved by God. Sometimes it happens when we’ve gone out of our way to see how others are doing, to help them…to care for them, only to feel abandoned and alone in our time of need. Sometimes it happens when we have a plan laid out for the next several months, one we bathed in prayer…when COVID-19 strikes and we watch those plans crumble. Sometimes it happens when life proves itself challenging as we follow Him, and our successful and contented neighbours live without regard for God. Israel felt this way. They had rebuilt both the temple and the wall. They were waiting for God to spectacularly show up as He had done in the past…but His presence seemed absent and they were devastated. So they started to live life as if God didn’t care. They forgot that they were His treasured possession.
