Longing for our Repentance

We miscalculate things in life all the time. We underestimate how much time we need to finish a task, how much it will cost to complete the renovation or what is needed to win the heart of the person we love. We also miscalculate how good we are and how holy God is. We think we are acceptable and assume that God is accepting. We miscalculate how sinful we are. Our sin is so great that we are God’s enemies. We are so lost that God Himself had to endure the punishment for our sin so that we could be saved. We think we know what it means to be human so we live enslaved to our sin rather than embracing God’s freedom through repentance so we can truly live. Living, truly living is only discovered after repentance – never before.
